SeaTac Explorer Post 24

Training young men and women to become the FireFighters of the Future

Welcome...

Interested in a Fire Service Career?

If you are between the ages of 14 and 21, interested in Fire Services, then this Explorer Post is for you!

The SeaTac Fire Explorer Post was created in the 1980's by the Angle Lake & McMicken Heights Fire Department and one of our Advisors, Battalion Chief John Madson.

The SeaTac Explorer Post is designed and structured to teach and explore the career to teens and young adults about Fire Services.

What do SeaTac Fire Explorers Do?

In the Fire Explorers we work together to acheive a common goal.  Our main goal is to teach skills and educate the Explorer Cadets while having fun.

The Explorers attend events hosted by the City of SeaTac and other agencies.  We set up security for the International Festival held every year at SeaTac's Angle Lake Park.  This is just one of the many events we participate in.  We also attend many public events to encourage Public Fire Safety Education.  We also provide First Aid Triage at these events.

You will learn basic skills in order to become a successful firefighter.  These skills include but are not limited to:

  • Putting on gear under one minute
  • Putting on the Self Contained Breathing Apparatus
  • Perform Search and Rescue Operations
  • Hydrant and Hose Work
  • Life Lessons
  • Mentoring
  • Certifications
  • Resume Building
  • Job Preparation
  • Fun and Friends
  • Social Events

What will you get out of this program?

The SeaTac Fire Explorer Post has helped many young people who have had dreams of a career in fire services.  Whether it is becoming a professional dispatcher, paramedic, firefighter or a career in other public services.

You will make new friends and meet new people.  The Fire Explorer Post is an opportunity to get your foot in the door in careers in the Fire Services.  The knowledge you learn will better prepare you when applying for a fire department entrance test.
